LatisseAre you tired of spending money on mascara trying to make your lashes look fuller and longer? Thick and voluminous lashes have always been a must-have when wanting to draw attention to your face. If you are ready to ditch the mascara products and grow lasting lashes, we believe Latisse may be right for you.

What is Latisse?

Latisse is an eyelash growth serum with FDA approval clinically designed to increase the length and thickness of your eyelashes. It is the first and only FDA-approved treatment proven to improve eyelash growth and quality.

One of the active ingredients in Latisse is bimatoprost, which was used for patients with glaucoma. Patients reported darker, fuller, and longer lashes after using the treatment. Several years later, the serum was reformulated for eyelash growth, patented as Latisse, and gained FDA approval in 2008.

It is important to note, Latisse is currently sold as a medicine and does require a prescription to purchase.

How Does Latisse Work?

Latisse works by affecting various stages of growth in your lash development. With daily applications, it is able to treat each eyelash as it grows for optimal, uniform results. Latisse is proven to increase the length and fullness of your lashes. In many cases, patients also note an increase in the number of eyelashes.

Who Is An Ideal Candidate?

Almost anyone who wishes to have longer, fuller, luscious lashes can benefit from treatment. Treatment may not be ideal for patients who have chronic eye infections, broken or irritated skin on eyelids, are pregnant, or have certain eye conditions such as elevated intraocular pressure. The best way to find out if you are a candidate for treatment is to be evaluated by your optometrist. We can help with the rest once your doctor says you are approved!

Potential Side Effects

As with all medications and treatments, there can be associated side effects. Side effects of Latisse may include the following:

  • Dry Eyes
  • Irritation
  • Itchy eyes
  • Red Eyes
  • Skin darkening around eyes

In some cases, Latisse may cause brown pigmentation to develop on the iris which can be permanent.

How Do I Apply Latisse?

We recommend patients apply Latisse at night after contact lenses and make-up are removed from the face.

To avoid contamination, Latisse applicators are single-use only and should be disposed of after applying to lashes. The patented applicators allow for enough solution to coat your lashes properly for ideal results. Do not use the Latisse serum with any other eyelash applicator.

Using the applicator, apply the solution to the base of the upper eyelid at the lash line. Do not apply to the lower eyelid or directly into the eye. Use a separate applicator for each eye. Blot away any excess solution.

Latisse should only be applied once a day.

Results

Latisse works by affecting your hair growth so results will occur gradually as your lashes come in. You may begin to see results in as little as a month, with full results expected after 4 months of daily treatment.

Once you have achieved your desired results, you can apply Latisse less often to maintain your growth.

It is important to note that the results are not permanent. Once you stop using Latisse, your lashes will gradually return to their original length and fullness.
